Monthly Sunderland Vigil begins, October 2
Dear People,
Following up on the success of the August 28th vigil, we will be initiating a MONTHLY ANTI-WAR / PEACE VIGIL IN SUNDERLAND. It will be on the FIRST TUESDAY OF EVERY MONTH. The upcoming vigil will be next week, October 2nd, during EVENING DRIVE TIME, from 4:30 - 5:30 PM.
The location is the intersection of Routes 116 and 47 in Sunderland Center. The vigil will last for an hour, during drive time over the Sunderland Bridge. The Sunderland Chief of Police has again been contacted and indicated his okay. Will and Ellen Rice will host the vigil this month.
The focus of the vigil is to end the war, desist from intervention in Iran, and to demand that Congress deny the $200 billion that Bush wants for the war. We've all heard his speeches, and the General Betraeus (sp?) speeches and testimony. HAD ENOUGH YET? I HAVE!!
We need to continue out visibility monthly and more...
Please make your own signs, with a message that moves you, and that is related to the war, and its consequences.
On August 28th, there were about 40 people who came. I hope many of you can attend next Tuesday, October 2nd, and the following first Tuesdays.
VIGIL DATES FOR THE COMING MONTHS:
October 2
November 6 (Election Day)
December 4
January 1 (New Year's Day) - I doubt many of us will turn out that
day... but it's not impossible
February 5
March 4
April 1 (Maybe by April Fools' Day the war will be ended...)
May 6
In the struggle for peace,
Susan
